What you're seeing

1. The shot opens close on a single dark cell body, its thin reddish branches reaching out through a scattering of small blue lights.
2. The camera pulls back to reveal a dense web of many branching cells filling the dark frame.
3. Blue points of light are scattered across the whole network, some sharp and some soft and out of focus in the foreground.
